Re: Maxi life build
Hey torque how’s it going.
Just catching up now as it’s been such a busy year for me with work, getting my garage and work shop built and crashing my caddy
Funny u should say your rear drop link came loose. As I had the same problem. The same one came loose twice. I think if they are not quite tight enough they move slightly on cornering then as it wears they just clunk worse and worse.
Sorry to see u clipped a wheel. Did the same my self earlier in the year but luckily it was only one chip so I touched it in.

Hi Ken, I've been away from here for a bit and are just catching up, love what you are doing with that inlet manifold.. I've neglected the caddy a bit tbh.. Lost a bit of love for it as the paint on the front end is degrading badly now.. And with not having the budget to sort I lost interest a bit

Re: Maxi life build
It's really strange.. It's scratched but in weird patterns, I always wash by hand with two buckets and grit guards

Re: Maxi life build
Wounder if you can heavy compound it with a machine. I guess the state it’s in. Worth a try. Cheaper than repainting it. Sorry man. Vandals???

Re: Maxi life build
I've tried that with a DA and compound but it's too deep, I park my caddy nose in so if it was vandals I would think they would do the rear..

Re: Maxi life build
That’s to do with the lacquer it’s shrunk and cracked. Nothing to do with scratches.
It’s possibly cheap lacquer or a reaction. I will ask my sprayer and see what he says.

I've had it 4 years and the bonnet was painted at garage before I picked it up without realising

Re: Maxi life build
I'm pretty sure I've seen this before. Looks like lacquer coming off as result of poor repair, judging by the pictures, anyway.

Re: Maxi life build
Sorry to see the state of your bonnet, I freak out when I see just one new scratch appear.
How long has the bonnet been in this condition?
If it's only the bonnet, the only thing I could think of was if you had much snow and ice on it during the bad weather in February. I know that there was dark layers in the snow that built up on the bonnet of mine and when the snow melted there was a dark gritty layer all over the caddy. Trying to clear the snow/ice off may have caused some of the scratches.

That could be it.. I knew it wasn't good but took the DA to it and its filled the scratches with the compound so now you can really see it

Re: Maxi life build
It might be that the DA won’t get rid of those but a rotary will. I’ve been using my DA recently and even with a micro fibre cutting pad and the coarse compound it didn’t remove swirls and took quite a few passes to remove the problem I had with water spots.
As it’s been painted it will be slightly tricky to assess but might be worth talking to a pro detailer to see how much they would charge and if it’s possible to sort. They may even feel confident they can wet sand that and then polish it.

Re: Maxi life build
I think it's past that, tbh the paint is a poor match anyway and has faded and has a milky sheen to it now, as said it's not even got clear coat on it just a gloss finish.. Just need to save the money to get it painted again I think
