Potter’s White 2k

Post by Sam-vw »

Let’s get things started, iv had a few previous cars such as -

Bagged MK5 Golf GTD
Image

88 Mk2 Golf Driver Small Bumper

Image

Bought my white 2.0 Sdi caddy after going self employed and fell in love.
I bought the van back in June 2017 and had no intentions of modifying due to long commutes to work

Here’s when I purchased and after a good day cleaning it

Browsing eBay and come across a cheap set of GTI red tartan seats and couldn’t resist.

Started removing the original bland grey interior

Image

A clean under the original seats was needed

Image

fully fitted on original sub frames, just re drilled and bolted through

Also fitted a Touran arm rest

Picked up a bargain from a scrap yard and got myself a £70 Touran bumper with no grill in burgundy red. Gonna get it resprayed but not sure weather to spray the lower half

Image

Got the bumper back from respray and looks awesome, glad I didn’t paint the lower half

Image

finally got the bumper fitted with a new grille and badge

Thought it was about time I lowered the van, iv previously lowered all my cars myself but never attempted leaf springs

Pretty self explanatory when removing the leaf springs apart from the bolts all seizing up within the bushes which is apparently a common issue but I got the rear done in a night so not bad going

Image

Thought the front was going to be easy since Iv done mk5 golfs before but the rain tray is completely different on the caddy and top mounts are a nightmare to get to. Also had to resort to cutting the drop links off because the Allen key rounded off.

Image

Also ordered some adjustable drop links

Wheels have arrived, BBS Audi speedlines 19” staggered set up

Image

Image

Had a test fit and can’t believe how well they sit, no spacers 9J rear and 8.5J front

Image

Image

Forgot about sliding door but luckily had 5mm gap

Image

Gonna have a play with coilovers to get the arch gap equal but really happy with the outcome

Had some knocking issues from the rear, also noticed rear passenger was a lot lower than the other side.
So removed my old worn out shocks

Image

And upgraded to some shorter shocks that are more suited to axle flipped beams

Image

Also cured the knocking sound.

Slight update, I found some white wing mirrors on eBay.

Image

Made a massive difference in comparison

If you buy some centralising plates for the rear axil the rear wheel will move back a bit to make it look more central. Got mine from, RAD.

Had a change of heart and sold the speedlines and they sold straight the way. So kept a sharp eye out for something abit different.
Came across some Vossen 19” 5x112 8.5j front and 9.5j rear. The sliding door is going to be a slight problem 🤔

Pretty happy with the fitment so going to get them refurbed but unsure of colour. Thinking maybe gunmetal grey
