Hi MrRowlie

What did you do with your floor? Did you lay anything under the ply?

Thanks

Removed all the Ply and panels. Headliner is out. Bulkhead is out, and ready to mod to use as side trims.
Removed the old bumper protector, which was a right pain! Managed to get it off with a bit of heat, and then spent hours removing all the adhesive off the bumper!

Cheers Tweedy! Nice thread you’ve got yourself!

There’s insulation underneath the ply, same stuff as you can see pictured on the walls.

The insulation is stuck down, then 12mm ply just sits on top (not fixed) and the laminate is just sitting on top of the ply.

I have fixed the bed down to both the ply and laminate, but nothing is fixed into the metal floor

Nice, started doing something similar myself but not nearly as tidy and as soon as I got it usable it stalled  Also it started getting closer to ski season and I realised I had better things to spend my money on.

Watching this thread with interest for some ideas :)

Looking awesome mate, how did you wire in those led lights in the rear? I’m wanting to do something similar.

I used the original interior light wiring. Used a 3 way rocker switch (I think that’s what it’s called) wired as Permanent - off - Switched (to replace the switch on the original interior lights)

I’ve also used 3 switches so I can independently switch each row of lights.

Completely over complicated things Image

Happy with how the bed has turned out so far, need to sort out a mattress next, and get some curtains up.

Very nice! I'm always amazed what people can do with few planks of wood, mainly because I don't like doing any woodwork myself :)

Next thing I’m going attempt to do is add a folding arm on the side of the bed which will act as a bike rack (secured by the 15mm axle)

Initially thinking of using a simple piece of 2” x 2”. However I’m going towards using something like extruded aluminium profile, which I could have the bike mounts able to slide side to side.

Something like this with channels.

Nice work on the bed! I've got an off the shelf bike rack for a front axle mount similar to the AL extrusion you've mentioned which is a good idea.
If you had a couple of extruded channels running parallel you can have the bike axle mount fixed diagonally as well to stop the handle bars taking up space above the bed

That rack gives a lovely clean install! Looks awesome. You are definitely onto something with the diagonal mountings, would make it a lot easier fitting multiple bikes in as well!

More to think about now Image

Decided to put a little table off the rear door, couple of folding shelf brackets and a chopping board!
