Soundproofing

Post by Halflife123 »

Hello has anyone soundproofed the back of their van and if so what did they use. I want to do it as cheaply as possible. I know that there might be a thread on here but I don’t have access to all of the site yet.

Loads of us have done it, with loads of different brands of sound dampening.

I personally prefer Dynamat, and have done the whole interior of my Caddy with it over a period of a year because it is expensive. Worth every penny doing it, though. Does not sound like a van inside any more.

Just purchased second skin. Expected a big box for the price I paid but no. Freakishly pricey.

Dodo mat rolls, easy to cut to whatever size you need

I've fully sound deadened, insulated and carpeted the back of mine.... Best thing I ever did

Did you do it all the way or just certain pieces? I plan to do the roof, floor and 'glass' panels.

I soundproofed the cab of my Chevy C10 with Dynamst Xtreme when I rebuilt the truck over winter, also sprayed boom mat inside the doors. Can’t speak for other brands, but it made a huge difference, took all the rattles away and exhaust drone too. And that’s on a 1967 pickup with solid engine mounts, poly cab mounts and hooker headers with 2.5” side exit pipes. Very impressed, definitely money well spent

Hi Skully, is this through experience of using other sound deadening? Or just personal preference?

Personal preference, Matt.

And here in South Africa we do not get a huge variety of different brands.
Have used Second Skin, Stinger Roadkill and STP products before on my own and others vehicles, but I prefer Dynamat as it just works better, in my opinion.
