Wind noise

Post by skinnyd »

So now that the rear is soundproofed and carpeted my attention has changed to the wind noise in the cabin.
Any solutions for this?

Do you have standard big mirrors? Wind deflectors make a lot of noise if you have them.

Standard dumbo mirrors.
No deflectors.

You sure it's not the 'mirror whistle'? It is a topic in 'how to' section https://www.caddy2k.com/forum/viewtopic ... 22&t=16444

@Giddy. No not the mirror whistle. The noise in the cabin sounds like the window is slightly open

@skinnyd I have the same issue, I can actually see the outside world through a gap between the door seal and where it meets the body, approx 1-2mm not sure how water doesn’t come in tbh!

Interesting to know if the life models have extra insulation as well?

The extra door seals are £41.02 from VW including VAT. They are listed as being for, "Comfort equipment", "sports/convenience version" or "high luxury equipment level"
It's on my to do list after I get some money back in my caddy funds piggy bank.

Thanks @doc.

Does the sliding door also have extra insulation options?

Bad door seals is the most common problem with wind noise. I had Them all renewed when ik bought my 180K second hand caddy. Doors are really snug now. Wind noise is a lot less now

has anyone here fitted the comfort door seals? from what I can see on partslink, the seal on the door and on the van will both need replacing. after searching google images it looks like the caddy life has them as standard?
