There is a micro quantity calibration that can help with symptoms like you have at times but you need ODIS, I did a golf last week with same complaint

No mate you will need to take to garage. Basically you remove the leak off pipes from injectors then fit separate pipes to injectors. Start engine and see which injector is giving a lot of return fuel over a period of about 30 secs. Whichever one(s) give off a lot of fuel needs replacing
