I.C.E Upgrade - What you got?

Hi all.

I'm looking to upgrade my ICE to something up-to-date on my 2013 Caddy.

eBay is full of Android units over known brands (Kenwood, Sony etc...) which I'm not familiar with?

Interested to see what everyone is running & any common fittment problems if any?

I use a Pumpkin branded Andriod unit, there are pros and cons compared to both stock and known brands.
Sound quality is better than the original VW unit, fitment is easy, much cheaper than known brands, excellent GPS reception, running Android also has its benefits.
Crashes occasionally - can be reliable for months then crash loads on a day, the on screen DAB aerials are poor, most of the included apps are poor and in some cases there aren't many/any alternatives.

Hi mate. I upgraded mine to a kenwood dpx7000DAB. Clarion front speakers with tweeters and alpine underseat 8” sub.
I’m happy with everything apart from the headunit. The screen is worse than useless. If it’s sunny, you can’t see the display. There’s also too many rubbish sound settings that make no difference. All you need is volume, bass, mid, and treble. I doubt many have just those settings though.

Thanks for the feedback, bit of a minefield in terms of choice but I'm seeing some common responses to the pros & cons of both specs.

I've set a £300 budget which should handle what I'm after (iPod compatible, Bluetooth & GPS) hoping that if I hang on a few more weeks into December I could pick up a reduced price bargain!
