Caddy locking issue

Hi all, I've just bought a 08 caddy and I've come back home and it isnt locking (I know I should of checked this when I bought it). It doesnt lock via the fob or the key in the barrel. The owner said it has been stood for a while, are there any checks that I need to do in order to find a fix for this problem.

Check that the interior light come on/off as you open/close the doors.
Check that the doors lock/unlock via the button on the drivers door.

The light comes on but the lock/unlock on the door doesnt work. Any ideas?

hi mate,Volkswagen have a well known issue with door actuators through a few of its models,if you have vcds you could scan see if it gives you a dtc,they are prone to cracking on the solder joints,you could pull it and resolder it or just replace it with ebay or aliexpress door actuators which i found to work very well with no issues..

all sorted now, tried it again this morning and it seems to be working fine.... for now.
