Coil light update

Post by Mungo76 »

So vans been plugged in and its says EGR valve faulty. The van had its injectors replaced and new MAF senor recently. Ive been quoted 850 to replace EGR is that a fair price?.
Ive read its a common issue with these engines along with injectors.
Can you still drive with a faulty EGR?
Is this going to be an ongoing thing?

You can have it mapped out but if it's failed even slightly open you'll have issues. If it were me, I'd have it removed, blanked off, mapped out and never have to worry about it again.

Depends on how ‘friendly’ your MOT tester is. As far as I’m aware, if it’s been visibly altered it will fail the MOT if the tester is rigid about the rules (the guy I use is)
I had mine replaced when it failed a few years back (£750 in Liverpool) Since then, I’ve had it remapped and it was switched off but left in place so it still looks right.

Might be an idea to talk to your MOT tester first….I was looking at EGR/DPF delete at first and was advised against it.
