Rusty sills

Post by Tommbott »

2010 caddy in white and the paint at the bottom of my sills has gone a bit rusty. They haven’t rusted through and are still strong it’s purely cosmetic. What has anyone done to remedy this. I was thinking grind it all back to bare metal and some sort of thick stone chip paint?

Any product recommendations would help
Thankyou

I would recommend sanding them back with a dual action sander with p80 discs to limit the amount of metal you remove then treat all the corrosion with a rust convertor prime with acid etch primer then white stone chip the whole sill.

Bilt Hammer Hydrate 80 is an excellent product to use once you’re down to bare metal and prior to paint etc.

Yeah I second that, I've had good results when I've used hydrate 80. Deox gel from bilthammer is amazing if you can leave it covered with clingfilm in a cool dry place over night so the gel can absorb the rust/corrosion.

It's great to know that you had god results with Hydrate 80. Bilthammer's Deox gel also looks very promising, especialy with this tip of using it in cling film to absorb rust and corosion. These findings on the rust converter are realy exciting, especially with the 5% discount offered with the promo code GIFT5.
