Front drop links loose (knocking when turning wheel)

Post by cste3361 »

Hi there,

Had my Bilstein B8 front shocks with 60mm drop eibach sport line springs fitted on the caddy yesterday and picked it up but now there’s a clunking when I turn the wheel at low speed so called the garage and they told me the drop links are knackered and have play.

I only had them changed a couple of months ago so cant understand why they’d be playing up?

My old shocks were in bad shape with both the springs snapped and folded up near the top mount. Image

Could this have caused damage to the drop links? Is that why they aren’t fitting the new bilsteins properly?

Or do B8’s need adjustable drop links or a different size?

Please help

TIA

You may want to check the steering rack mounting bolts are not loose and are correctly torqued, They can work loose and produce a knocking noise.
