My caddy 1.6tdi idling high

Hi, my 1.6TDi used to do the same approx every 200 miles when used for short low speed journeys - both before and after having the roll back.
Drive it in lower gears to keep it at minimum 2000 rpm for 15-20 minutes and it will complete the regeneration cycle.
It's in the handbook.
My current 2.0TDi regenerates approx every 300 miles but it's a DSG so just dropping it into "S" mode keeps the revs up and speeds up the process.
