Touran 6 speed gearbox
Any1 know if a touran 6 speed gearbox from a 1.9 TDI will fit a BLS engined caddy ? I'm assuming it is an easy swap but just want to b sure before purchasing.

Re: Touran 6 speed gearbox
theres more than one type of gearbox. 02M, 02S, 02Q etc... they all fit, but some require more or less to be changed. and they all have different ratios (identified by the gearbox code, (DRW, ERF, FMH, GQN, GQMand some of the 6th ratios are only a little bit higher geared than 5th in a 5 speed box

Cheers for that. Do u knw which 1's r best? And which are highest geared. That's main reason for wanting to upgrade. 5th n caddy is too low geared.

Re: Touran 6 speed gearbox
I only know about the 02M versions (mk4 golf) and of them, the DRW has the highest ratios, the EFF has the lowest, and the ERF is sort of a compromise between the 2.
the 02S boxes have some really short 6th gear ratios, but thats all I've heard never really read much into it. google it i'm sure you'll find sommet

That's great. Most people seem to have used ERF and DRW boxes. Do u knw what the DRW boxes wer originally fitted too? ERF seems to have been 115/130 golfs.

DRW was the 115's, EFF was early 150's, well over 2/3rds of the 130's are all ERF, as are the rest of the 150's.

Cheers for that. All makes so much more sense now. Will hold out for 1 of these boxes I think as I want low revs when I'm on the motorway.

Re: Touran 6 speed gearbox
There doesnt seem to be much between the DRW and ERF boxes but i suppose if looking for most mpg on motorway miles may as well go for DRW if going for the swap.Nice info, cheers for sharing.
