Advice for newbie sound deadening and carpeting...

Thanks for the specifics and pictures on this forum most useful. Wanting to refresh the carpeting in the back of my Caddy, but it looks like there isn’t any sound deadening behind the lining so might as well be starting again.

I am thinking of using the stick on sound deadening mat and then some heavier insulation before ply lining the back of my van and carpeting the larger smooth ply panels. Can anyone recommend or advise against this method? I want the quietest possible.
