Re: Pee's work camper resto build ( pic heavy)
Well today was interesting, the rain was on and off all day so i was only doing things in dribs and drabs. I got a bit done but no where near what i wanted.
First off the MOT. It passed. But only because it was my mate that done it. It wouldve failed on...
The front brake pads where low,
The rear pads where non existent,
The front lights where not aligned correctly,
The warning light was on,
The back box was rusted through.
So first up the headlights, now aligned properly. Then was the back box. I decided to cut it off. IT SOUNDS AWESOME! No louder than standard, but when i lift off the turbo sounds great.
I then went to get some bits for the service and the brakes.
I done the air filter first as its the easiest, and bloody hell it was absolutely filthy.
Then the pollen/cabin filter, well that was just as bad. No wonder my blowers where crap.
Then we started to drain the oil after putting some stp oil flush in. And it started to hammer down. Great.
After having a smoke break and noticing that the filler cap was not fitting flush i sorted that out. Nice and easy job.
Next up was to tackle the spray on the dashboard as it was still raining. It came off relatively easy to be honest.
After it stopped raining i finished the oil & filter change and went for a quick run. So much better.
So i then started to clean more overspray off the door shuts and the door, which i then decided that it would be better to spray the complete door card. It came up really well.
Proceeded to polish the window while i was there.
Then went on to the side door. All the door shuts and what not. All nice and clean now.
Then to do the same to the drivers door that i done to the passenger side.
This is how she came out. Thats before i have even machine polished it.
The door rehung. As it had dropped.
Then this came out to say hello
Its started to look much better already. Im also considering on replacing the rear doors while im at it too.

Cheers guys. So i went up to meet gleam. Turns out my ecu is the lowest form so i can't change much. I'm planning on changing to the highline clocks anyway.
Gleams caddy looks fab in person, gave me so much inspiration for mine. And his workshop is pretty cool too. Any valeting needs he's your man. He showed me some of the cars he's done they look prestine.

Have you had chance to try those drilled discs yet? Is/was they comparable to say Mintex. As yet undecided on brake upgrade.

Good work so far! Cleaning up nicely.
Where'd you manage to find it at such a bargain price?

Re: Pee's work camper resto build
Cheers guys. I'm just waiting on finding the wing and door and I'll get cracking on buying stuff for it.
Sorry mate I didn't understand what you meant. No they are just vented disks. Although someone told me today that they are rubbish disks? They warp easy apparently?
I bought the caddy off my mate who don't really look after things. And after my pervious van blew up he said he'd sell me this for cheap. Only because he was offered £500 in part x value. So i said I'll take it. Doesn't bother me about the damage it's easily fixable.

Re: Pee's work camper resto build
So i haven't really updated this in a while as funds have been low. Just generally tidying things up at the moment.
I am going to a 4x4 event in a couple of weeks with my dad so i have decided to start on getting the back all compered up. I've bought a air bed that should fit perfectly in the back. Im not entirely sure what way I want to build the back out yet, as I want to use the van for fishing.
Does anyone know if there is an awning available for the caddy?
So some pictures...
What the interior was like prior to my ownership
I cut it wrong. So had to plastic weld it back together.
New number plates
Ended in a lovely night of riding

Not sure. I'm guessing because the dvla who deal with the speeding fines and what not can't tell the difference between the front and back of the car?! Lol.
I think it's something to do with being in the eu mate.
