Hi Brad mate! Well I actually had a good productive day on it today and finally got it finished (silver tailgate van that is) centralised rear axle, fitted GTD sests and made brackets and wired up the gti mk7 led’s! Good valet and new mot then up for sale sadly ... still looks shite next to Stu’s vision of beauty though hahaaa

Cheers guys.
Doc, I’ve removed the rear section of the exhaust completely for the moment but will get a new section made up which will finish hidden under the van.

The old work van gets its parts painted in my back garden and is then put together out in the street

I second that. You’ve got a real eye for detail and design. Bumper looks amazing, to the point where I’m now thinking I need to build something new for mine.

What’s the 20mm spacers for mate, so you can run lower pressures?

Yeah that’s it mate. When I changed the rear trailing arms everything fitted differently with the new round bar ones compared to the old square box ones. Basically, the old square ones were notched and the axle sat in that notch. With the round arms there’s no notch so the axle sits on top of the arms. This has a knock on affect with everything else on the rear setup because it’s sitting about 20mm higher than before.. At driving height I ended up having to run the rears at 62psi with the new arms, which is pretty firm, where before I run around 45psi which was relatively forgiving. The spacers seem to have done the job but I’ve only driven it home so not fully tested yet.

Cool, they have obviously beefed their design up considerably following all the cracking of the early versions. Fingers crossed it’s sorted for you mate
