Sure about that? Strut and stroke length and all that? I'm pretty sure that's how thisMark M wrote:
you can just put MK5 Golf 55mm front shocks on, they are exactly the same.
was accomplished That's on 15s I think. Arch/wheel contact, catching is a given, and they're rippled to f*ck

Why is the ride height so much higher on ours then, considering the rolling radius of the wheels/tyres fitted is the same, and the struts are the same?hedge wrote:the tdi caddy uses mk5 golf gti shocks. (55mm)
the sdi caddy uses mk5 golf shocks (50mm)

Even the springs are the same!Baddy wrote: Why is the ride height so much higher on ours then, considering the rolling radius of the wheels/tyres fitted is the same, and the struts are the same?
must be the strut towers are lower
some variants of the shock are touran ones too (sometimes fitted to the golf just to confused things!!)
but all the front suspension is golf!!

Yeah I was thinking it would be the towers, after I posted I've had this and our mk5 GT and they are indeed the same. Its totally random.hedge wrote: Even the springs are the same!

No updates lately, Gonna do the door pillars, inside handles and the sliding rail cover in 3M carbon fibre over the next few weeks. Might change the Parrot kit for the MKi9200 version and mount in a different location so I can wrap the radio surround too. Then the GTI rear brakes will come along with the obligatory 16" spare wheel. Must redo the checker plate linoleum in the back too, it's getting a but tatty.
Release bearings are in on Thursday coming so the 6 speed box isn't too far away, after that a full strip down and clean of the EGR along with a blanking kit will leave me ready for a half decent remap. About time!

With the roads I travel I can't really afford to lower it, wish I could afford air!
