Electric windows

Post by caddygirl »

Help!

My electric windows seem to be working when they want, sometimes they work sometimes the won’t. Intermittent faults are the worst, what should I check?

Are they factory fit, retrofit original equipment or aftermarket electric windows?

Ok, if so a VCDS scan might point you in the right direction.
Do both windows stop working together?

Sometimes but not always, the. If I operate passengers from drivers sometimes makes drivers work. I’m at a loss.

Worth checking for broken wires inbetween the doors and body, under the rubber boot.

Most likely waters got into switches and corroded contacts, you can remove switches without taking door cards off, slip a thin blade (kitchen knife) under either end to press plastic clips in to release switches and check.
