A bit of fabrication today as drilling holes in the bumper cross beam was not happening last weekend.

Also sorting out the wiring for the fog/driving lamps.
Tomorrow new harness for the “Elk spotters” and connect up the rest.

Time to start on the inside.

Picked up 2 lengths of 20mm hollow section. But before getting started with that it’s time for other things.

Closer panel tomorrow.

that solar whirlibirdi looks nice
the low profile makes it less noticeable
did it slot straight into your old hole or did you have to make some adjustments ?

what did you use the rivnuts on ?

The hole needed enlarging.

Rivnuts and cabinet bolts to hold the panels on.

Come in a selection of lengths and have a nice big head.

hopefully it wasn't too much or a ball ache
have to say, the end result looks good
you've either got to fill the hole with metal. prim and paint or get done at a shop
or, replace with a similar product
the later looks shmick !!!
no wires required as it's solar ;)

so the rivnuts went into the back of the panel and you've put "big theaded" bolts in from the front - hex head (hard to see on my device) ??
they look pretty flat, do u have any pics of the nuts by themselves ?

what size, M6 ?

Yes M6.
The holes for the VW plastic fixings needs enlarging as many don’t have much room behind using a socket etc as a stop works well.
Some explanation pics.

As the headliner joiner was not present. A strip of 3mm alloy. Rivnuts and cabinet bolts. Will coming off after it has set in shape and will get covered in vinyl .
