SWB Mk3 Pure Grey

Post by Ma2 »

I have a fair few things I want to update so we can have a daily driver we can sleep in when camping.
I’ll start simple then when I have the time, the money and appropriate access to the forum I can start working on the more tricky areas.

My list so far and in no particular order

RCD330 stereo
Sort aircon
Spare key
VCDS
Reversing camera (rear wiper delete?)
Dashcam
New door speakers
Add some tweeters
Cheap armrest
Rear door lanyard trick
Side rail
New seats
Seat covers til I get new seats
Mats
Remap
Spare injector
Electric windows
Spare wheel and Bonnet release tricks before the inevitable happens
Camping pod
Insulate / sound deaden cab and load areas
Carpet load area
New roof bars
Awning/drive away tent
Leisure Battery
Solar panel etc.
roofbox
Storage nets
Electric hook up
Nicer steering wheel
Arial
Window tints
Bulkhead delete completion (Bulkhead already removed)

Have already gained so much from the forum areas that I can see so thanks all!

So now looks like this!

Very pleased with carplay, feels very grown up having a decent stereo not one that has some after market Bluetooth wired in.

Need some new speakers now and to put some tweeters in the dash. Opened the dash speaker grills and it’s just empty in there!

Very pleased with first effort :)

Encouraged by my first success I started to fit the armrest.

And after -

Really looks the part for the money. Fits in the rear cup holders. Even has a compartment in it.
Will be nice for longer journeys.

Welcome to the forum, sounds like a good list of mods you’ve got planned there.

Got this yesterday. 3 vin.

Ran the diagnostics and only the radio rear speakers missing and aircon coolant low pressure were found as issues.

Got the aircon regassed today and it’s now working perfectly for our first real trip staying away in the van!

Got the ground zero speakers through this morning. Looks like a right pain to fit the tweeters. Hopefully get access to the how to section for this soon :)

Ex display camping pod with cushions from van furniture. Great deal from those guys. They needed the space.

Image

Got all round suction window blinds that roll up. Cheap from Amdro as caddy being discontinued. I think these vans are too short for most so not as popular as the maxi.

Image

10cm cushions but crucially can still sit up straight at the highest point in the back of the van.
I’m 5’ 8 (~173cm) for reference.

The pod is only 1660cm length. Which just doesn’t seem long enough for my height. But it fills the back of the van nicely and I have no problem lying down comfortably on it with the seats pushed forward a bit.

Both my feet and head fit nicely and it’s well comfy.

So comfy in fact I’ve already had an unscheduled nap in the back :D

Got this connector through the post today. It’s to link up a rear view camera to the stereo. Just need to plot a route through the van once I start insulating.

It’s looking a bit grey inside. Need the good lady to give it a splash of colour.

Orange or yellow go well with grey I think.

Not my department though :D

Couple of things turned up today

First the all important trim removal tool kit!

And the insulation and sound deadening from dodo

Will try and get this done next week in time for going away.
