Mk4 Double Halogen H7 headlights & DRL
Anyone have any experience with these headlights. Just installed them. Work much better than the H4’s.
I’ve changed byte 18 to activate the DRLs. Also changed a setting to allow main beam to stay on when Full beam is in too.
However. I would like my DRLs to stay on even with main beam on. Is this possible. And anyone know which setting/byte to change to reflect this?
Thanks

IIRC it's a legal requirement that DRL's shut off if the main lights are on. Something about them being bright enough to be seen during daylight means they'll be too bright at night.

Yes I believe it is, but many cars have them dim when main beam comes on. Which probably gets around the law. Which I’m sure is an option in VCDS but just can’t see how to have them on along with main beamBahnstormer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 8:56 pm IIRC it's a legal requirement that DRL's shut off if the main lights are on. Ah I see what you mean! Can't say I've ever noticed that option in VCDS, I don't think it's something that VW considered tbh .

Re: Mk4 Double Halogen H7 headlights & DRL
Managed to code the headlights. DRL stays on all the time now. Byte 21 set to 20
Which in the helper is turning off
‘Led parking lights with low beam’
‘Dimm with low beam’
Also before the above changed Byte 18 to C2. That was just to enable the DRLs which I’d done previously.
Only thing I’ve noticed now. If light switch in auto and handbrake on. No lights on at all. I’ll see what happens when it’s dark
Handbrake off with switch in auto, sidelights and DRL on.

I'm sure there's a setting in the BCM for DRL with parking brake applied.

Yes, I use long coding with OBDeleven.
My lights work exactly how I want now.

Re: Mk4 Double Halogen H7 headlights & DRL
Yes. No issue with handbrake. Note when testing. With handbrake on the lights won’t come on. But if you set off to drive they will and will also stay on when you then apply handbrake at all other occasions. However switch engine off and ignition on again with handbrake on,, lights won’t come on. Hope that explains it. So not an issue really.

Central Electrics-long code
Then keep going through all the options and see which you need to do.
What isn’t actually working?
