Steering wheel upgrade

Post by adeybroth »

I’ve got this to replace the rubbish PU wheel on my mk3. Trying to source the correct airbag, think the wheel is from a polo and airbag needs part 6C0 880 201C?

Can anyone confirm the correct airbag part no?
Cheers

Nothing comes up when I put that in, everything I’ve seen that looks like the one for my wheel is 150 quid

Remind me tomorrow as have an airbag out that I can check the part number off. I’m at that unit tomorrow afternoon. Word of warning, once you fit the wheel, drive it to make sure it’s straight before you fit the airbag. The airbag in that type of wheel is an absolute pig to get back out again. Spent literally 2 hours wrestling with it Sunday night compared to any other airbag I’ve removed (inc the golf mk8 one) which has taken minutes. You have to alight both side springs from behind whilst wiggling. As it’s so tight one side clips back as you push the other forward. Having struggled with this, I would 100% rather have some codes to deal with & clear than get th bag back out again. I’ve not driven without airbag so hopefully someone else can confirm my logic but assume once connected back up, it’s just a case of resetting the code with vcds or odis

Craig,

This is the wheel and airbag together,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355274577203 ... media=COPY

airbags a different shape, but need to be careful there seem to be a couple of airbags they look very similar.

If you have ordered the wrong airbag, you should be able to return it.

Cheers bud, that’s really helpful. Also do you know the torque setting and spline size is for the wheel? I need to get myself a set of splines.

Don't buy a cheap set of XZN Bits, they are a false economy.

Something decent about £20+

This one seems OK (the great Famex set I have is no longer available)

Sorry - Cancel this :(
They don't ship to UK

Tha Famex set is available, but only from Belgium ! At a price.

Not sure if you will ever need the Odd-size bits that only come in this set !?
Great quality set though.
