Caddy 1.9 limp mode drama continues…

Post by Chewie83 »

Hi all,
Clutching at straws but anyone got any experience that may help as garage are scratching heads now.
So van started going into limp mode a few months back and came up with an overboost fault. At the time pressure switch and n75 were both changed.
Problem continued and this time a mass air sensor fault, got diagnosed as sticky Vains so had a reconditioned turbo fitted, still the same issue.
Now had a mass air sensor, pressure sensor and another n75 and it’s still having the same issue of it going into limp mode.
It’s fine once it’s warm and been run a while but first thing if I get on the motorway it hits 2k and loses its power.
It’s also had a map off another caddy on the same engine code as originally someone thought it might be a bad map from a previous owner.
I’m honestly lost with this and think the garage are too, not sure if there are any of specialists who will have seen this before.
Phew, any help advice appreciated

Some data logging would really help point you in the rite direction with this.
Requested boost Vs actual, N75 duty, MAF reading etc. will all be relevant.
Have the garage checked the charge air system for leaks?

Yeah they smoke tested it yesterday.
Not sure they can data log it from there software, would I need a specialist for that?

I'm sure most good diagnostic tools will have some logging function.

Yeah one of my detailing clients mentioned it as he does some bag upgrades but the garage didn’t seem to think they could do it? Might have different software, it’s just getting to the point now I want to push it into a river 🤣
