New seats in mk4

Post by Espenh »

Hi, i want to change my seat in mk4.

Find some perfect Tiguan seat, and understand that i need a touran base to get this perfect..
But look like its not so easy??

caddy base 9+caddy seat 23=32 tiguan seat maybe 27. so it will be 27+9=36
the touran base its 9 cm too?

please help me if you have any ideas about this..

Hi,

Yes you are quite right the Touran bases do make the seat higher. But once you get used to it then its fine.

I have done the same swop in my Caddy, at first I wasn't sure and thought I might swop back to the Caddy bases and just drill the holes in the right place for the Tiguan seats so that it sits lower.

However I have got used to it now and head room isn't a problem.

So answer is, you can fit Tiguan seats with Touran bases and they will fit fine, however if you want to keep them lower you will need to adapt the Caddy bases to fit - this is common so if you do a search you will find threads about this.

I'm on standard caddy bases with rs3 seats as I'm on the taller side, and they are the perfect height for me.
it's really easy, there maybe a few little locating tabs that will need grinding off the new seats, then line the new seats up with the rear holes on the bases, then drill two new front holes and bolt them in
