I took ignition live from behind the head unit (the cable had 12v ignition live written on it) . I assume this will be ok?

I will try the relay tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

Thanks again for the help 👍

I had a switched live for the camera which should be your yellow wire connected to the reverse lights and the live wire red to a permanent live so you can select it from your display

I’m not sure mate to be honest. I think to be sure go from the fuse box. However, I’d hope someone with more knowledge could confirm.

On a kenwood the yellow wire is for vision, the purple wire is the switching/signal wire. Do not inject power into the yellow wire.

The radio should be fused at the fuse box so taking the live from the loom should be OK, they don't use much power.

I found out the hard way about the reverse light pulse feed....its full voltage for 10 seconds or so, then pulsing. I had fitted a relay in the feed to supply the reverse camera and add on screen.
I fitted a capacitor across the relay coil feed that smoothed the voltage enough so the relay operated fine. Can't remember the value of the capacitor now...and its buried behind the side trim!

So I took the rear light out, traced the cable for the reverse light to the front of the van. Connected my reverse sensor cable from the back of the head unit to it and it is now working.

I forgot to mention yesterday I fitted a fuse to the power cable to the camera as per the instructions.

Thank you all again for the help 👍

Yeah I’ve learnt never to touch anything electrical again 😂😂
I’m just glad people on here are so helpful as I would still be sat with the van in a million bits without the help 😂👍

Haha, it’s crossed my mind. Mine took me a week of messing to get it working, so you’re a pro in my book
