Fuel tank sloshing around?

Post by Liamharbour »

I have just brought a 2010 caddy, i filled it up the other day and you can really hear the diesel in the tank spashing around and knocking the sides of the tank really loudly! Is this normal? Anyone else having this issue?

Yes, it's the small things that p**s me off. I packed out the two spaces behind the seats with sleeping bags this helps and if I get stuck at night won't get cold.

Haha sleeping bags is a brilliant idea! I spoke to someone at a vw garage and they said there is an option for a new tank that may stop this, you know anything about this?

A new fuel tank is going a bit too far.

I covered my hole floor every single bit covered and it helped a good bit still hear it a bit though.

I know this is an old post, and nothing on it for a few years, but the last couple of weeks (Since I've gone down from 19's to 18's) I've noticed, and can clearly hear diesel sloshing about in my tank !! I'm at just over half a tank today coming in to work, and it was very pronounced when I came out of the drive. I'm a Maxi Life, so not as if there's no soundproofing or anything.
Can anyone explain why I've just started noticing it ?? Cheers

Hi @Ripley, did you ever get a response around this? I've recently purchased a 17 plate caddy and experiencing the same issue. Wondering what you might have done to fix it? The sleeping bag suggestion might be a good idea as I currently don't have any use for the spaces behind the seats.

Thanks, Phill.
