Caddy Maxi, Front Bumper removal guide

Post by Radar_Alex »

Hi all

Well today i have changed the front bumper on my van as the old one was damaged quite badly, so i thought i would take a few pictures showing the
bolt locations for anyone who may find it useful in the future,

First off 3 torx screws inner wheel arch same on both sides

Image

Then there are these little clip things, very sneaky these ones, also note in large red circle closed position of slider,

Image

Then you have these two Torx bolts, and spring clips shown below

Image

Image

Image

Next we have a collection of 8 Torx Screws along the underside of the bumper circled in red, and for those with it fitted circled in yellow i am guessing on is the outside temp sensor and its mounting position

Image

temp sensor mounted
Image

Once you have removed all of the above a nice pull forward on the bumper it should release away from the Van

Upon refitting i found it to be a lot easier to slide out the previous mentioned locks then applying a inward pressureC on bumper side to push in towards the wing then slide the locks shut

Closed

Image

Opened

Image

Same on both sides then it is just a case of refitting all the torx screws, bolts and clips back on and there you have it a fully fitted front bumper

Image

Thanks for reading the post and hopefully it helps people out,

( admin (DOC) sorry if this is in the wrong place but i do not have have access to the how too section, please feel free to move if required,
also i could not find your picture sizing rules, please let me know if they need resizing thanks Alex)

Does the bumper have to be removed to take out a headlight?

Hi Alex
Just reading your really good thread here,

I've changed my bumper, no problems at all but do you know where to buy the 2 little plastic wing clips as I broke mine getting them out and have looked everywhere for them problem is I don't really know the correct term for them)
Thanks

I'm certain VW will sell those clips, have you tried them?
