leisure battery with Rear Seats

Post by Cookie4086 »

Loads of posts and discussions on here about where people are putting their leisure batteries/how to wire up etc etc - but I've got the rear seat conversion in my SWB caddy, so the standard installation in the rear footwells isn't an option.

Has anybody managed to squeeze one in under the bonnet? or do I need to make some sort of box to hide it in on top of one of the rear wheel arches?

or any other suggestions - is there such a thing as a slim unit that'll go underneath the front seats or some other cunning solution?

Thanks
Cookie.

I've was about to ask the same question. I was thinking under the passenger seat but not sure what size battery I would need. Any help would be much appreciated

Sorry to dig up an old post but did you ever find a solution to this or has anyone else got a solution that doesn't involve using the boot space? Thanks!

Something I’d be interested in to as my partner has a maxi kombi so can’t use footwell space. I was thinking along the lines of under passenger seat but battery would need to be familiar compact.

I’ve seen people put a battery under a passenger seat and a heater under the drivers, but am looking for more info myself on the types to use! Here’s a pic I found:

I might just make do with battery packs for most of our electrical needs and wait for lithium to be more accessible. I don't fancy the faff of looking after the leisure battery even if I did find a home for it.

Good to know! And that’s a shame.

Is there not room under a caddy seat for a battery then?

There is some room, but not a great amount. Not enough for a normal leisure battery.
Maybe some low profile version would fit ?

I've got a swb caddy life and wouldn't mind a leisure battery as I'm using it as a mini camper from time to time. I'm in the same boat, unsure where one would go

Are super capacitors an option for camper power requirements?
They could solve your size issues and certainly handle your power and weight needs.

Hi,

I am currently in the middle of a solution for 1.4 TSI Caddys (fingers crossed) - It only works for those engines that don't have the large air filter box in front of the battery.
