Best Mods for around £300??
Having owned my Caddy for a couple of weeks I'm starting to plan the mods on van. I've already purchased a Touran glove box, centre console, carpets and clocks and also have an old cruise control stalk lying around which I never fitted to my R32.
Not looking to spend money on performance right now (it's got 147K miles and I don't want to stress it, I've read the BLS engine self destruct ), but was wondering what's the best improvement you've made to your Caddy? I've got approx. £300 to spend, but don't necessarily need to spend it all on one thing. I've read a few threads about soundproofing and under trays, anything that makes driving it more car like would be of interest?

Re: Best Mods for around £300??
Engine tray is a good shout. I'm about to order one for mine as the reduction in road noise when I fitted one on my T4 was great.
Touran Mirrors - popular mod and stops the woooshing noise from the original ones.
Change the seats... Especially if going on longer trips.
Other than that an EGR delete (I know ou said no performance but it's not so much for power gains). Here's a pic of mine which came off my BLS at similar mileage... You'll see why I opted to delete it!

Re: Best Mods for around £300??
Thanks guys, keep them coming.
I think under engine tray and bonnet soundproofing will move up the list then as well as a new(er) steering wheel, the one on now is showing its age and is all shiny just like the gear knob, which I also ordered the other day, but was sent a 6spd instead of 5 spd.... If they don't ask for the 6spd one back it's free to a good home, it's a one of those cheap gaiters and gear knobs off e-bay, but it looks OK.
Regarding steering wheels, if I were keep the existing airbag, which wheel am I looking for, there's lots out there but some of them look as if the airbag should be a little more risen along the top, if that makes sense?
Oh and deleting the ERG looks like it should be a must do looking at that picture..... .....and where do you find a Scirocco interior for £150, that's a bargain...

Re: Best Mods for around £300??
If I was spending the £300 again.
I'd go for sound proofing ( rear floor ,arches , engine tray/ cover )and speaker upgrade.
And a few beers to someone with a VagCom lead for a few tweeks.

it's a one of these, standard I think, When I look at some other wheels on ebay it looks as if they are more raised across the top of the airbag, if that makes sense..?torque777 wrote:Have you got a photo of your steering wheel?
Re: Best Mods for around £300??
The only steering wheel that air bag will fit is either a mk5 golf gti flat bottom or a leather one like I got from a mk5 golf eos

That's good to know, thanks. I think the flat bottom GTi wheel may be overkill, but certainly a leather upgrade would be nice, let the e-bay search begin.torque777 wrote:The only steering wheel that air bag will fit is either a mk5 golf gti flat bottom or a leather one like I got from a mk5 golf eos
Couldn't help noticing the heater and mirror knobs in the picture, what are they off?
