The workhorse
Hi guys, looking for some advice on what the best way to up power on my caddy? I've fitted a touran bxf 1.9 tdi 90 engine in my van as it had a 2.0 sdi before. But it's still sluggish all be it not as bad as it was before. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks Wayne

Re: Engine upgrade
Also interested to hear responses on this. Is the Touran engine swap straight forward enough?

Re: Engine upgrade
What turbo would fit to my engine then? I was going to fit the s3 intercooler from darkside. I've absolutely no idea on these things so keep it simple haha. I want to remap it once these are fitted as it's just double cost

Re: Engine upgrade
what bhp do you want and whats your budget
a 1749 or 2260 would be my choice for more power.
you should hit 150ish on stock turbo for more you will need better injectors

Re: Engine upgrade
It is a work van so I doesn't need to be crazy power. Well my cousin is a mechanic so he'll fit whatever I need so would just be parts, and hopefully they come in cheap enough. So the 2260 would be ok on stock injectors? And once remapped 150+ bhp

Re: Engine upgrade
I also have a issue with my EML light staying on. Hooked it up to vagcom and this came up
I've changed pedals, and my local garage tried hooking up another throttle body but still stays on. Any ideas?
Cheers wayne

1749 stock will hit 180ish upto 250-280ish for a hybrid
2260 will hit 300+
a 1749 and 2260 are not a direct fit it will need the pipework altering and a different/modified exhaust manifold

Re: Engine upgrade
I honestly think you will do very well to make 120 on the standard engine, they are not the greatest for tuning.

Surely I can do something with it, here was me thinking I was doing a good thing. What would you do doc? New turbo, intercooler and exhaust system with a remap?Doc wrote:I honestly think you will do very well to make 120 on the standard engine, they are not the greatest for tuning.

Re: Engine upgrade
Yeah they are. I would've thought it be better to fit everything then remap. I just want to know what I should fit that would be less hassle and up the power to it's maximum

Did you check to see if any additional wiring needed doing when doing the engine conversion ?
When doing the BKD/AZV conversion to an SDI there's about 5 new wires that adding to the vehicle side of the loom and Ebox.
