I have had the Dieselgate update done last fall. Found it to be alright but not great. Here in Sweden VW issued a goodwill/guarantee that they would pay engine parts that broke within 2 years of the update.
Sunday last week while on the motorway an injector seized. I managed to get to the VW dealer. They diagnosed it on monday, ordered the parts and the car was ready for pickup on wednesday. The cost for this - free. It was covered by the goodwill.
I can also mention that one week after the update I went to Coro Tuning in Gothenburg, Sweden. They removed the funnel in the airintake that was a part of the update and flushed the ECU. Entered a normal 140 bhp remap into the system.

So this funnel can just be removed without any other issues?
