Brighter bulbs for front and rear interior light.

Post by bigfatolly »

Does anyone have any recommendations for some brighter bulbs for the interior lights on a 2012 Caddy?

I only want to replace the stock bulbs, not really up for dismantling the rear roof panel to fit LEDs or anything as it's already been carpeted out by the previous owner.

Ebay would be your best bet I'd say. Just try buy from a decent supplier with good feed back.

Seat Ibiza Map reading lights are straight swap and apparently much brighter / flexible

I have got one but not installed yet - should be easy / quick upgrade though

If you get the size of the bulb you can just replace it with a pure white LED from ebay, amazon, halford etc etc etc.

I have both the front and back interior lights changed, just replace the bulb like you normally would.
Easy mod and a big difference.

Just bought some Samsung LED 38mm Festoon ,I got them from HIDS Direct.

About £6 for a pair,I bought 2 pairs so I have some spares, will update the thread when fitted.

Last week I replaced my headlight bulbs with some Osram Nightbreakers which made a huge difference, also replaced my DRL bulbs with Mtec bulbs, much much better.

Just looking the bulbs that were mentioned above.

Do they need to be CANbus ready? OR can you just buy any LED bulb?

Interior lights are not monitored so there is no need for "CANbus" bulbs.

I changed all of the interior lights to led replacement bulbs, non canbus style. Looks great but they glow a little even when they should be off, maybe canbus bulbs with a little extra resistance would not do the same?

Hi all, I bought 2x CW5 239 FESTOON 38MM 12* 4014 CANBUS LED BULBS 5000K WHITE from HIDS DIRECT and they just slotted straight into the 2 interior lights and make them brighter and a nicer cool colour. Just wanted to let you all know this worked. Cheers.

Update from me - both of these lights failed after a couple of months. Not sure if they overheated, failed due to low quality (but odd they both failed at a similar time) or whether they were just the wrong spec. Will investigate further when life allows, back to the original bulbs for now. Dull, but a lot better than nowt!
