ex BG Caddy Battery Isolator

Post by DrKHawonaha »

Hello all,
I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on a little problem I've got please.

I'm not actually sure it's a fully fledged problem yet. I sat on the passenger seat with the door open today, whilst playing with my sat nav windscreen holder, for no longer than 10 mins, when I went to lock the Van the remote would not work.
It turns out the battery isolator had kicked in, so I flipped the bonnet and pressed to reset.
I thought this was an usually short amount of time so I tested it again (by having the radio on and the passenger door open for 10mins) and the same thing happened.

Is this, like i said an unusually short time or is it about right?
This is slightly worrying as it means any of the doors can't be left open to long and is going to make camping (when I eventually get round to my intended conversion) very annoyingly tricky.

One thing I did notice on the isolator is an instruction to 'hold for 8 second to isolate'! Is this a temporay 'off' switch for the isolator itself (in green on the image)?

Thanks Everyone

Very interested in this - I've just bought one and know nothing about what the isolator is, does, etc...

I used to work on the comms and telematics on the BG vans. The isolators are a little sensitive, not sure if they are adjustable, if not it should be fairly easy to remove.

I also thought I needed a new battery. It does click off with my side door left open and the ex bg led striplight illuminated after a while. Battery is fine. Somebody on here has bypassed his.

Thanks everyone,
I do kind of like the idea of the isolator. But it really needs to adjustable or temporarily deactivated.

I found the website for the manufacturers

https://www.thevehiclegroup.com/power-m ... t-systems/

I'm going to drop the an e-mail and see if a manual or something exists.

Also on another note (sorry to hijack) but anyone had any issues with the 'armadillo' lock on the back? Mine seems to have been seized open. The previous owner said he simply never used it but I have the key. Other than removing it, any ideas how I could get it operational again?

Thanks

Wd40 in and around the lock and pin the body is alloy and the lock is steel with are salt on the roads in the winter it could have seized up or it might be bent. If it's bent then time to change for a new one
Mine was a bit stiff when a got it that's what I used

Thanks for that. I have a feeling it's seized, removing it would mean having to fill the area/mark left by it. I may as well replace the whole back doors and get resprayed
