Might this be (of interest to some as) an alternative ... :?:

https://www.solarplexius.com/Sun-protec ... caddy/2012

You can select year and Caddy / Caddy Maxi ; scroll down the page a bit for an idea of how it works.

My Maxi has original spec (not very, very dark) tinting ; it also has van-x curtaining in the rear, apart from on the sliding doors.

I have ordered a (Solarplexius) tailgate shade, to try out ; it will replace a cheap, ill-fitting, net-type sun-shade that is too easy to see through.

The increased reflection on the tailgate glass (when looking in) should increase privacy & security, as well as provide shade, whilst remaining easy to see out of.

(Awaiting delivery, so not yet installed & no pics)

Window tinting

Post by bluecaddymaxi »

Package arrived in about six days (from Sweden) delivered by courrier ; well-packaged.

Installing the plexi-screen was pretty straightforward and it can be removed if required.

Completely blocks viewing in from the outside and provides shading, but retains visibility out.

film partly removed pre-installation :

Looks like a good self install/cheap option. Is it completely impossible to see in? Even shielding your eye right against the window?

Could see in easily before (lightly tinted rear screen, with see-through net-type shade).

With the policarbonate shade installed, I couldn’t see in (with my head up to the glass).
Will try, with my hands cupped around my eyes, tomorrow ... to see if it is possible to see in or not.

Not that cheap :? , though it seems tinting isn’t particularly cheap either.

They quote £68 for both rear windows on mine - didn’t think that was too bad.

I want it pretty much so you can’t see in at all as will have my trials bike in there sometimes - I guess blanking plates would be the only sure fire option but like the fact you can still see out of those.

Glasses off, face up against the glass, hands cupped around eyes ... can just about make out the inside !!

Other than that, eg quick glance, peering in, etc. ... see only reflection of outside.

Nice, thanks for that. Might have to invest in a set I think.

i know this is an old post but I am looking at these for my barn doors.

1. Is it a tight fit against the glass? ie does the glass look fully black from the outside or can you see the seam where the factory black edging meets the solarplexius sheet?
2. How has it held up over time?

Thanks in advance.

I have the 95 % dark (5 % light transmission) £ 180 for 4 side windows and rear door. Very difficult to see in unless lights are on inside, I am happy with viability out when driving day or nightImageImage

Mine has the 15% light transmission film, since I didn't want too dark. This is perfect, you cannot see clearly inside and the visibility from inside is good.
