Engine cover part # 03L 103 925R
Ball head mounting points x 2 needed at front of engine for mounting engine cover (the back 2 mounting points are probably already fitted) part # 03L 103 164. Get these from VW or TPS.
Oil filler cap o-ring part # 03L 133 287. This is not totally necessary but finishes/closes of the gap between the engine cover and the oil filler cap. Get this from VW or TPS.
Please note that other engine covers fit also from Audi, Seat and Skoda. Look on ebay and you should get a decent one for about £30 - £40. I paid £38 for mine a few years ago and it was like new. Do not buy a new one though from VW or TPS as you will definitely need to sit down when your told the price.

Hmmm, I don't think there are many topics on the Caddy4 engine covers, there were loads on the earlier models but the Caddy4 I don't think has been covered too often.

Re: Engine cover Caddy 4

Post by Dav02 »

Just an update for everyone else. The engine cover number above is incorrect. Ordered a cover and it wasn't correct. I'll resell and try find correct one.

As i get to grips with everything VW i noticed the part number posted above starts 03L

Most of my engine part numbers are 04L. Presumably as mine is a Caddy 4.

I'll try find the correct number and share here.

I have a mk4 TDI and have fitted the engine cover.

Quantity & part numbers I used:

1x 04L 103 925 Q (engine cover)
2x 04L 103 164 (ball joints)
1x 04L 133 287 (oil filler O ring)

Engine cover from eBay, mint condition from a breakers 2016 Golf mk7. I think I paid around £38 delivered.
Other items from TPS, approx £14 inc VAT total.

Fitted by me in 10 minutes, really finishes it off under the bonnet.

Thanks for confirming the cover No.
Already got the bolts.

The cover I found and looks like it fits is 04L 109 954 Q
Anyone know if this fits?

Sorry noob question, does the van not come with one? What's the benefit of fitting on apart from looking nicer? Thanks!

No, vans don't come with them. Nor do they have the bonnet liner. The cover looks better and provides a bit of sound dampening.

Ah really, cheers for the info! Is it worth doing the bonnet lining too then at the same time?

Bonnet lining does provide decent sound dampening from my experience if the engine noise bothers you.

It bothered me enough 8)

Cover prices seem to have risen somewhat.
I have just scoured the net, ebay, gumtree, etc and ended up paying £48 for a scruffy 03L 103 925 R.
None of my local parts dealers could source the ball bolt fittings, so I ended up forking out £18 for two second hand, off ebay.

My hope is that the cover will clean up OK and that it quietens my engine down a bit?

Dude. Sand it down and paint it. Secondly two ball joints and O ring new from VW £13.00. 🤦🏻‍♂️ well that’s what I paid about 3 weeks ago.

My local VW dealer is a 50 mile round trip and they wouldn't post the parts.
So that's why I ended up buying the bolts off ebay.

I will see how the cover cleans up, then might look into painting it.
