Fitting GTD seats to a Caddy

Post by toffeeboy »

Hi

Will mk7 Golf GTD seats fit straight into my 2012 Caddy or will anything needed to be modified?

Thanks

Your need to drill holes. If you don’t want to do that. Buy Touran bases and they will pop straight in.

Thanks for the info, if you change the bases does that alter the driving position, I love the driving position etc as it is now just thinking of seats for the look and that they may be more comfy on longer trips?

Don’t think there is much in it. The golf seats I would think they are a bit higher so your position will be changed anyway. Just try it. You won’t have problem selling them if you don’t like it.

They look the business, I assume they have to be fully manual seats as the caddy doesn't have electric seats

I've got the same seats, I checked the level of the golf seat on the touran base compared to the Caddy seat on standard base, and by eye if anything the golf R seats looked slightly lower in terms of seating height. They're height adjustable so you shouldn't have a problem matching the caddy seat height with way more comfort.

@JD2k
Great, thank you! One final question, do any Touran bases from any age and model fit, my Caddy is a 2012 model?

I'm assuming best source for both is that famous auction site

Yes, obviously in general the newer they are the better condition your have. But Touran base are the same. If you find some ask if you can have the bolts to. As your need 8 M10 bolts.

Mine is a 2012 as well so I just went for the touran bases with the matching darker grey/anthracite coloured plastic trim.. and yeah as Caddyluv said, get the bolts if you can!

Hi, im about to embark on this tonight. Ive bought My golf R seats, My Touran bases. Im a coplete novice, are the original seats easy to get out? Do you take the seats and bases out in one then fit Touran bases before fitting the R seats?
Thanks

When I did mine I took the seats out first then the bases.
I did the passenger side first just in case I hit a snag. Did you get bigger bolts for the seats to fit on the touran bases?

Iv just bought some mk7.5 gtd tartan seats which have the cubby flap underneath. Iv also ordered some touran bases with cubby holes. So that means ill have 2 cubbys each side? Are people removing the touran cubby and leaving the golf one below seat?

Anyone got any photos of the golf r seats on the touran bases from the front so i can see the cubby holes.

Many thanks
