2016 rear lights
Hi all. Fitted my rear lights the other day but it’s showing a bulb error as I no longer have a reverse on the drivers side, Doc has said I need to use VagCom pro to code it out. Anyone else found a way around this? Or a person with the relevant tech to code it out?
Cheers,
Jamie

Re: 2016 rear lights
Whenever I install the 2016 light I normally use a jump wire between the left and right reverse light.
It’s not a neat way, but it works.

Re: 2016 rear lights
Several ways to skin this cat. Simplest is to bridge a wire on the BCM. Or you can do as maxx07at says, or you can put in a resistor in place of the bulb, or you can get a LHD light so that you can have 2 reverse lights (my choice), or you can edit the EPROM and convince the car it only has 1 reverse light (as Doc says). If you have a pre-FL Caddy, there's a CECM option (with VCDS) to disable the missing reverse light.

@bluemotion 2016
You need to either modify the car or the light. I modified the light. This setup doesn't have a dedicated fog lamp. I wired the driver side brake light bulb to do double duty as a fog light. We don't have MOT or fog light requirements in South Africa, YMMV.

Hi mate, do you know the smoked part number for a pre Face Lift LHD with a tailgate rear door? I would like to maintain 2 fog lights.
I think it's the same setup as your caddy. Thanks from italy

Re: 2016 rear lights
@gransetto
There is only the possibility of 1 rear fog light on any version of Caddy, unless you add the wiring yourself. All Caddy versions have a single fog light on the driver's side (left side in your case). Assuming you're actually referring to having 2 reverse lights, in which case you would use the left hand side (passenger) light from a RHD Caddy. Those part numbers are available all over this forum, but let me know if you get stuck and I'll try to dig them up.

Re: 2016 rear lights
How did you wire to get the left brake light act as fog light?

Re: 2016 rear lights
You open up the light and bridge a wire from the fog light circuit to the brake light circuit. It doesn't short anything, or create any errors, and also passes the fog light diagnostic test that is done every time you start the car.
