Ex British Gas owners

Post by robblowen » Mon Sep 09, 2019 6:24 pm

⅚I found a post by @peely last week about a diesel tuning box. I checked mine and sure enough I had one to, they're really neatly tooked away so I hadn't thought anything of it! I thought I'd do a specific post for ex BG vans so more people find it, but you've peely to thank for the info. It's definitely worth checking and getting rid, if it's there. I've added some pics of where it will probably be clipped and what it looks like before I had mine out. It plugs into the left end of the fuel rail and the original loom and is cable tied to the original loom somewhere over near the expansion tank. All you need to do is cut the cable ties holding it in place, unplug from the fuel rail, unplug the original loom from it, plug the original loom into your fuel rail. Mine definitely runs quieter without it (my wife asked I'd done something to it, as it sounded smoother/quieter).ImageImageImageImage

I couldn’t see one on mine either mate, I know a few on here who have mentioned having them though. Maybe BG only fitted them to some vans as a trial, or garages are removing them before sale, especially if they make the engine sound rough.

They were fitted to all the vans in the fleet in an effort to reduce the fuel consumption and therefore the astronomical cost the business has to pay in fuel each year.......

Problem was they would throw up fault codes and cause the van to go into limp mode every 30 seconds. Engineers either removed them themselves or took it to a garage and they disconnected them.

Good idea......in reality, pain in the backside !!

I picked up my 2011 ex-BG Caddy today and found the box cable tied to another cable but it had already been unplugged/bypassed.
