Post by Timthorley »

Hello all,

I have an exhaustive list of parts i want, there use to be lots of scrap yards around stoke you could walk around strip the parts you wanted and walk away with a wheel Barrow of parts for 50 quid :D , however alot are now go to the desk ask for what you want then we will strip it check ebay then charge you massive money  , my question are there any good scrap yards in the midlands where you can walk around, strip your own parts and grab a bargin :?:

Yep. I tried a local scrappy for touran bases. They checked dealer prices and quoted me about £20 less. I told them to shove it and bought some from eBay. As Barbel said, you can’t walk in there with your spanners anymore

I was racing mini's back in the 80's and used to go to the scrappys with my dad regularly. We used to find loads of random Cooper S parts all the time, unbolt them and get them for pennies because they didn't know what they had. I shudder to think how much those bits would be worth now.

Still one up this way but you have to be quick to be at a decent car when it arrives. It’s normally stripped to bits by folk in a day or so

My local Dismantelers will let me in to search, but I do a lot of business with them via work selling them ex government end of life cars and crash right off. I love heading up on Saturdays and spend hours looking for bits and bobs.

Hi
If your happy to travel ,there's a great scrappy you CAN still walk around and remove your own parts ,between Cheltenham' & 'Gloucester'.
Plus they're not to bad on price. But you do have to be quick ,when something good comes in.They have had tourans and mk3 caddy's in the past.
But personally ,i've just bought a 06 touran to break,as it seems cheaper to get the parts i need his way .
Let me know if you want the yard details
