*a bit of advice* MK7.5 GTI bumper and screen wash bottle

Post by Shaunie P »

Hopefully someone knows or has fitted a Mk7.5 GTI hybrid bumper with fog lights?

I've been told by the guy who made the bumper that the screen wash bottle is in the way of the fog lights, has anyone any experience on what is needed or used?

Thanks
Shaun

Sounds like the guy making the bumper has experience of this, could he not advise you on how to get around it?
I believe people have done lots of things from heating the bottle to mould it into a suitable shape to cutting a chunk out and plastic welding it back up.
You could try and source a washer bottle from a vehicle with a webasto, these bottles normally sit back further and up into the engine bay.

I’ve dine a few of these now mate (mk7 but im sure the 7.5 are the same in terms of fog light space) the washer bottle will need a slight relocation and a little bracket made for it to sit right. I’ll see if i can find a photo of one i made previously to help you

Cheers Doc, It's GtiKris, the guy on Instagram. He mentioned that it needed moving but wasn't sure how.

Hef, that would be awesome dude! Very much appretiated. I would imaging fog light location and space would be pretty similar. Was it much of a job?

I have a mk7 bumper on mine, the fogs sit pretty much identical asthe 7.5, as Hef said you can make a bracket to relocate the bottle. I choose to re position mine in to the rear of the van using a kit car tank.

Here you go Shaun mate. All I did was keep the bottle at the same level it is now but turn it a quarter turn to create a void for your fog light to fit. Use the same holes on the chassis but just make a little bracket to secure the bottle tight. I used a bit of aluminium flat bar. You’ll then need a small section of hose to pipe in to your water filler neck. Any probs come back to meImageImageImage

These bumpers make a huge difference to how the van now looks.
Much fresher and smarter all over. Definitely a great mod to do. I don't think the fog lights are a buggy, but the bumper design looks the dogs...

Is there any chance anyone has the part number for the fog lights for the MK7.5 gtd bumper? They look similar to the mk7 and u don't fancy shelling out on the wrong ones.

Cheers in advance 😁
