Well it’s working again now. Loose ground maybe?? Occasionally comes on going forwards too but Im happy for now. Gonna see how it performs over the next week or so. Once again, big thanks to Stan the man, r1lea, Doc, and Tommyzooom. You’ve all helped me massively and I couldn’t have done this without you guys

The guy that installed said he grounded it at the rear but then we had to ground again at the front either he’s ground at the rear was useless or the caddy has grounding issues

You did mate yeah. I’ve grounded mine near the rear wheel arch on the left side. Just glad it’s working !!

Strange that. I’d have thought there was no ground issues as such as the stuff they put in at the factory works well enough.....I’m open to correction on this though. I’m putting it down to the fact I’m a complete novice

This is seriously doing my head in!
After a short drive today, camera went back off. I’m getting a reading inside the red plug for voltage, and continuity on the ground from the outside of the plug to ground point above wheelarch.
I’ve tried grounding it from the point behind the dash and still nothing.
I’m out of ideas now

Next. I’ve had a read on line and disconnected the ground, and put my multimeter from that to the soldered join on the live wire (with engine off) I’m getting a reading on 0.07/8 volts. Website I looked at says that is a short to ground. What does that mean?

Short to ground means the live side is grounding out, do a continuity test from the live lead to the ground lead, it will buzz etc

Either your solder joints are touching or the red plug is faulty

Do I do that with the engine on or off mate?

Off mate
If it’s short to ground then it’s grounding no matter what

Ok.....I’ve tested the red plug on the camera....one probe on the inner, one on the outer connection, I’m getting continuity.
On the other side of the plug, I put one probe inside, the other on the outside, I got open circuit. That’s what’s wrong isn’t it?

Yep
Shouldn’t be getting continuity

Just cut the plugs off mate and join the wires separately

Ok mate......once I’ve cut the plugs off, it’ll be hard to know which wire is positive and negative though.
