Re: Passat W8 Interior light copy?
I got my copy last light and fitted it using one of Tommyzooms looms while following the how to, very straight forward, like it a lot.

Re: Passat W8 Interior light copy?
Does anyone have the Part number to order the light fitting from TPS ?
I'm going to look at the alliexpress ones, but wondered how much a new OEM was ?
Looking on eBlag they are anywhere from £55 -£85 (mostly from Germany
Cheers

Hi @Adamgav5000 I can't 'buy' from TPS direct, as no account, so contacted my local Van Centre today, they want £72 and change plus the VAT, and needed the cash up front, as has to be ordered 'specially' from Germany
Got mine from eBlag Germany, genuine brand new item £66, postage free

TPS seem to be very funny. Some branches will deal to the public and others won't. I bought my rear lights through a friend whom has an account. When I collected them I asked if they (Reading branch) would deal with the public. They said it wasn't a problem.

Re: Passat W8 Interior light copy?
Yep
Very Strange that, as the order would have been over £140.00p for the bits and bobs that I wanted ? and they (TPS) are literally next door to the Van Centre at Ipswich
Oh well, W8 light on its way, as well as a cable from Tommyzoom

Re: Passat W8 Interior light copy?
So
W8 Light arrived today from Germany via DHL.
Well, I'm not sure if I've had my pants pulled down, and have paid 30 bucks over the odds ? it is obviously brand new, and in a sealed bag etc, but Stamped VW China ? and well....doesn't look like a top top quality part ? Is it just me ? or paranoia kicking in ? I just didn't want to pay the £72 + VAT VW Van Centre wanted and a long delivery time, but ended up paying £66 inc free postage from Germany for a 'genuine' one, and wonder if being a cheapskate didn't pay off
Hopefully it will work out OK when I fit it, just need to cut the slots and get that wire down to the light switch, which is truthfully the bit that concerns me. I'm going to have to look at this next week, as my preference would be not to have to try and remove/replace the trim, and I'd like to explore using plastic trim tools as shims and just feed the wire behind if that makes sense ?

Re: Passat W8 Interior light copy?
To be completely honest, I didn't even look at the stamping on my Chinese light so cant comment on what was on it.
The install isn't difficult, the worst part was trying to get a blade up into the light housing to make room for the clips/connector. I found that I had to use some longer self tapping screws to hold the light in as the standard holes didn't line up and the stock screws were too short. If you do remove the A pillar its not particularly difficult to get back on. A little patience goes a long way. Just fill any potential voids with a cloth so if the clips do fall out you catch them. Also lining the clips up while looking through the windscreen helps a lot.

Re: Passat W8 Interior light copy?
I'm presuming the extra wire is for the little red LED's?
There a firm near me called 'traveli-lite' who sell copy ones for £35. They are a nice bunch of people there, and the owner, Elliot, is a nice guy, genuinely trying to bring decent aftermarket parts to us lot, for fair prices.....i don't think they have the LED red little bulbs, but the normal light, with map lights too, is excellent, and lights up the cab brilliantly!

Re: Passat W8 Interior light copy?
Any long term reports on these being a problem? Thinking about buying one as they are half the price, and we secretly know it’s all made in China anyway.
