Hi All,
Recently had the #1 injector fail while driving down the Hume Freeway on Boxing Day.
Ended up getting it Towed to nearest VW dealership, $1200 AUD later its running well again!
I noticed the new Injector Art No. was ending in 'S' as opposed to 'B'. I read somewhere that this means a change from Bosch to Siemens.
Would you recommend swapping them all out? The parts cost was $800 just for one Injector.
Just wondering if there is any recommendation for lowering the chances of this from happening again? injector cleaner etc?
Cheers!

Re: #1 Injector Fault
The injector part numbers ending B and S are pure coincidence that they appear to represent Bosch and Siemens, they are just revision identification given by VW and all are Siemens.
There is no guarantee that all B revisions will fail, there are lots with high mileage without a problem, I wouldn't go swapping them out unless you can justify the expense. It might be worthwhile having a spare and the necessary tools etc. in case of emergency but changing them all is a bit extreme.

Re: #1 Injector Fault
Ah ok that makes sense! Ill have a look at a spare injector, plus the slide hammer and cleaning tools. The mechanic also mentioned that you have to get the flow rates coded to the car computer, so a stop in at a dealer would be required afterwards anyway.
