It was discussed here some time ago, and IIRC can't be done without some major modifications.

Hmm indeed - the tailgate on my Maxi weighs a ton.

If anyone discovers a practical VAG parts bin - bolt on upgrade I would be very interested.

I guess someone has solved it, as the tailgate is power opened on many PRM modified Maxi models, and likewise they have managed to squeeze in some system to lower/raise the wheelchair access ramp.

The T5/6 parts add up to about £900 without replacing the tailgate (and the tailgate technically should be replaced as it has a different space for the new struts to sit in).

I found this company who do a range of powered struts and the Touran is on their list along with Transporters and a few other VW models but no Caddy. They're Chinese I think and sounds like they develop as and when they see a market - a few people enquire about versions for Ford Connect on the reviews section and they say its in development. https://www.autoease.com/product/liftgate/

To add, I just found this clip showing the Autoease kit on a Caddy so it is available

Just found another company selling a Caddy kit https://www.hautopart.com/product/vw-ca ... -tailgate/

and a youtube clip of it in operation

Sirus do a powered tailgate for their Caddy conversions but they have an additional strut mounted which you can see in this video clip
