Hi, I've just bought an 08 caddy 1.9tdi.
Got my eye on some Rims on ebay.
Just wondering if anyone can help me out with the fitment.
The fitment if the wheels is 7jx17et56 5x112 but what I have read so far is I need j7x17et54
Any help would be much appreciated

Hello mate. I reckon et54 or 56 shouldn’t cause you too many issues with a 7j 17” rim. It depends on if you’re lowered, and by how much.
Have a look at a wheel offset calculator like willtheyfit.com. That’ll give you some useful information. I read it’s best to stick to +/- 5 of your original offset (My van was et47) I know some lads don’t but I just wanted to play it safe myself.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I'll have a look at that cheers..
It's just standard at the moment, not lowered, not sure if I can do that with carrying weight in the back.
I checked on vw website and it said 7jx17et 54 so wasn't sure if I could go with et56 wheels

It's all very complicated to me 😂

If your standard wheels are 54, then 56 will be fine. It’s only 2mm.
It is a bit complicated at first yeah. There’s loads of websites that explain wheel offset. Once you get your head round it, it’s dead simple

Quick question: I'm used to owning a bigger van where alloys need to be load rated. What's the legal position for Caddys? My guess is no, but I don't want to be found lacking by the insurance company etc should things go belly up.

What's the official line?
