Hi guys, I’ve recently bought a VW Caddy 2.0 SDI, and to be honest it has been a massive ball ache.
Had new starter motor / Power steering pump and 10 mins after getting it back the gearbox has blown....
My question is what Gearbox will fit? I have a BST engine with JJS box. Will any 2.0 SDI box fit? For example the 5 speed box from a mk5 golf, which is also a 2.0 SDI.
Someone please shed some light as I’m about to scrap it

Yea, you'll be ok with pretty much any Mk5 Golf that generation SDI gearbox.

I'd take that linked topic with a pinch of salt, the mk4 6 speed gearboxes were on TDIs only, I would reckon the SDI would struggle to operate with the gearing and sixth would be next to useless.
I'm open to correction, if anyone has actually fitted a 6 speed gearbox to a SDI then please speak up.
