Re: 2020 Caddy 5 press launch and information
I still don't ever see myself coming round to this version, but the GTE one is as close as it gets to me saying its ok looking. Still needs to sit lower at the rear and I will never forgive VW for putting in that stupid side rail and the recess in the side panel, and I will never spend Golf R money on a van!
For inspiration, this is another photoshop sitting on air suspension, with 20 or 21" wheels and side panel smoothed.

@dan@biali
I'm with you there, I don't even like the 2015+ models (or for that matter the pre-2010 models), and all they did with those was a minor cosmetic tweak to the front end. The side panels are beyond stupid - they have a big fat crease in the panel anyway, so why not put the rail in there? Or design the van around the rails as all of them have at least one. I'll keep my Caddy until there is a small van built on the MEB platform. I can wait.

Was just looking on van style website. They are selling own factory black sliding door side rails now for the mk5. They have pictures of one on their own van. It’s a great improvement over the silver standard one.

^^^ had a look out of curiosity. Suppose its a marginal improvement, especially if you had a black Caddy, but other than that it's still nowhere near as good as a proper colour coded rail cover.

It’s definitely grown on me. That looks real nice, then again it should for the money they’re wanting for one haha

It has windows, so will always look better, as it hides the Berlingo type recesses.
It still looks to me like someone has put a belt around it, and then inflated it's trousers

Would be interesting to know if MQB Touran dash could be retrofitted..? New Caddy dash with all these voids and touch controls is the biggest downside for me so far. Guess we'll find out at some point

Re: 2020 Caddy 5 press launch and information
I had one for a couple of days when my 2019 was in with the dealer for a prearranged repair. I liked some stuff about it and it drove well, and this one was specced out as it was a demonstrator. The ACC was good, it was very smooth driving and quite quiet, weirdly felt really dead at slow speed but took off like a bat out of hell if it was given a bit of welly. I really didn’t like the button free controls, it was hard to select radio stations on the move and the heating was too complicated to set when you’re driving. The blind spot indicators in the wing mirrors was good, as was the electric folding mirrors. I ended up liking the looks less and less the longer I had and I was glad to get my own van back. Which is lucky as a new 5 would be too rich for me

Saw 1 at work the other day and I know the owner had a caddy 4 150 before it. His view on it is it is a company vehicle and drives way better than the older 1 but says its ugly compared to the old 1 but he's inside it so doesn't care

Curious if anyone managed to fit the arm rest from the Caddy Life in a Caddy Cargo?

The Ford front end is actually alot better than the VW one... still a pity about the lack of smooth side panels and ugly sliding door railSportvan wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 9:55 pmAlso, just been on you tube and discovered this. https://youtu.be/3DmLn_7T9Ss
