2020 Caddy 5 press launch and information
As you all know, Doc managed to get on the press launch for the latest Caddy 5 in Dusseldorf. He got sent a press pack containing the now leaked (by someone else) press photos and a 16 page document outlining the specifications.
I will post these photos even though they are in the other thread and update as and when I get any other photos from Doc or the internet.

Re: 2020 Caddy 5 press launch and information
This is what I've diluted from the 16 pages
MQB (modular transverse matrix)
The rear axle is completely new, incorporating a solid Panhard rod controlled by a trailing arm. To optimise ride comfort the previous leaf spring has been replaced by a coil spring construction. This permits the integration of different drive system concepts – from conventional front- and all-wheel drive all the way to alternative drive systems.
Maxi can carry 2 euro pallets sideways
TDi engines have better nox emissions due to double dosing 55kw/75ps or 90kw/122ps
TSi 84kw/116ps
Supercharged natural gas TGi
DSG is now digitalised ‘shift-by-wire’
‘Innovision’ 10.25” digital cockpit
Optional electric tailgate and side doors
18” wheels on top version
LED headlights and taillights
Keyless access and ignition
Inductive smart phone charging
2 USB sockets
Wireless App connect

I love the tail light design. So much better than the current one.

Re: 2020 Caddy 5 press launch and information
thanks for the update.
Plenty to like but some styling I don't. The front bumper looks awful. Suppose that's something to mod anyway
For those that don't use the Caddy for heavy commercial use, getting rid of the leaf springs is good. Interior looks like it could be far more comfortable. Plus a shark fin aerial, finally be able to get decent DAB signal.

Re: 2020 Caddy 5 press launch and information
Have they all got 2 sliding doors? With that hideous rail protruding out of the panels.
On the positive side I like the fact that it’s got all the latest technology and comforts. I also like the flared look of the arches. On the negative, it’s ugly! Horrible angle of the rear bumper where it meets the 1/4 panels. Lost the smooth sides of previous caddy’s which imo was what made it the best looking van. Nasty nasty looking side rails. Too many different body lines for me. The front bumper looks weird, like when people colour code their bumper grills, paint the grill section black and it’d look much better at the front.
Overall, I’m sure it’ll look ok when we start to modify them, lower them and add big wheels etc......as we do.

Re: 2020 Caddy 5 press launch and information
I have to say, VWs disguises and trickery fooled me. I think it looks great. I’d like to see a few different things personally, the lower grille on the bumper would look better in gloss black to break up the colour a bit. I’d have also liked more defined wheel arches too.
Are there any official shots of the interior Dan?

I Dont like that, I think the back is horrible and overall looks ugly. As said above the smoothness of the sides have gone and looks a bit busy.
The interior looks smart though

Very smart looking, especially the rear, not sure about the one colour mesh look on front though, about time it had a new style as was looking a bit dated compared to say the transit connect.

I'm sure it will look different in real life but in those pics I'm not a fan
