Let the build begin

So, as it’s been chucking it down outside this weekend I thought I’d spend some time in the back of the van...

Removed the old plywood panels

Image

Image

Lined the roof panel and fitted a set of LED’s and a switch to switch them between door control and off
Image

Image

Tried to keep the wiring on the back of the lining tidy and secure...

Image

Lined the sides and the plywood panel, brought the silver down so far and then brought the anthracite up to meet it, hopefully will look okay after a few MTB trips. The gap above the side door has also been bridged, see below Image

Image

Refitted the Powerfly bike clamp and changed the retaining cord, will replace with a lovely dark grey one when I get a chance.

Image

Sprayed the old grey bulkhead satin black to keep the theme going

Image

And as there was no beer in the house, I kept fuelled with..

Image

Still have to finish off the RHS, that’s a job for a dry day

So, what’s left on my list....

2. Headlight tweaks
3. Remap
5. New front seats
6. Trial fitting of a VW flip emblem reversing camera into a spare barn door(long term project!)
7. Retro retrims for the A pillars - now changed to hydro dipping Image
9. Dukes of Hazard air horns (so ‘70’s)
10. Electric window upgrade
11. Flat bottomed steering wheel, unsure yet which one
14. Centre console
15. Touran dash
16. Touran instrument cluster
17. Touran front bumper
18. Dye the cab headlining
19. Lowering kit
20. Engine cover
21. Passat interior light

N+1. Buy a newer Caddy and start again ImageImageImage

Only 4 new mods added to my list since the last update ImageImageImage

That’s a nice job mate. I like the MTB clamps.
I’ve just been using the holes in the side of the van and bungee cording my bike in. Yours looks much more professional.

Cheers Pete, getting quite excited to actually be able to start getting out from Friday morning (locally to start with) once lockdown restrictions are eased a little up here!

Van’s ready, I on the other hand... 8kgs of lockdown weight seems to have appeared overnight

Hi Papa Bear removed the rear door panel and had a look at the wiring for the reversing camera, there are 2 additional wires, cut one to remove the lines and cut the other to change the camera from a reversing one to a front viewing one

Sorry, can’t remember which wire does what and I’ve binned the instruction sheet.

They are the white and the turquoise wires. Can’t remember seeing them in the advert, however this is what they supplied

Today was another good day ImageImage

Local scrapyard opened up for the first time in 10 weeks, went looking for a Touran centre console, none to be had, the 2 Touran’s that they had had been miraculously stripped bare during lockdown, however, all was not lost....

Mrs C said, these look like nice seats, why not get these...

Image
2, as new half leather Audi Sline seats, heated - now I’ll have to hunt down the switches and wiring to make the heaters work Image
Will install them once I’ve gave them a clean.

And I picked up an old style 8 button leather MFSW and airbag too, needs a wee clean, but really quite nice. Now I’ll need to go back for the high line module as in my excitement I forgot to remove it, doh!!!
Wasn’t planning on the MFSW, however you can’t pass up a bargain now can you!

Image

And I picked up an Octavia interior light, need to check the LED colour and change if required.

Oh, and a as rare as hen’s teeth engine cover for my BLS engine, and after a wee clean...

Image

Tomorrow’s another day and another rummage round at the scrappy’s, awesome!

Tom-8-0 yeah it was, I had a wee look at the caddy too, pretty much stripped bare!

However, there are another few caddy’s sitting in the compound at the back waiting to come through once there is space form them. The place was packed full of cars, the fullest I’ve ever seen it.

Rhysjos cheers! Yeah, I bought this van with the intention of doing absolutely nothing to it apart from kitting out the back for MTB coaching and riding, then I found this forum....

I’m going to update my wish list after I’ve fitted the seats, steering wheel, W8 light, electric windows, Touran bumper, fog lights and external cubby hole IPhone connection.
