Caddy engine types and gearboxes

Afternoon all,

Haven't got access to the engines forum yet, so I'll have to post it here I'm afraid.

I'm looking to buy a Caddy Maxi Kombi or Caddy Maxi Life 2.0 TDI but the engine with 150bhp. However, I'm really struggling trying to find one with a manual gearbox. Ideally looking for one from 2015 onward. Is this combination almost exclusive from one another? I've found one or two online but the rest and vast majority are either the automatics or the 100bhp version.

Cheers,

Jake

Hi mate, if you go for the 100bhp model in manual you can just get it remapped to 190bhp

Just an option if you're worried about power. But the 150bhp does come in both manual and dsg

The 100bhp model will remap to 140ish as stock. 190bhp will need hardware changes.

As far as I know the 1.6tdi will go to 140 with a stage 1.
2.0tdi stage 1 is 190bhp. Checked a few sites. All similar figures

Ah great. Cheers for the replies!

Never even heard of remapping...

I'm guessing it'll push your insurance up?

Any negative effects?

I'd defo like to give it a go though.

Insurance should be notified

Remaps are usually safe as most vehicles are detuned from factory and Remaps alter throttle response, air and fuel mixture within the boundaries, resulting in more power, torque and fuel efficency.

Wouldn't advise it on a high mileage vehicle as it can put strain on certain components but saying that reputable companies won't flash your ecu with an unsafe map.

Hope this helps

Hi Jake,
We were told that all the 150 Caddys are DSG now unless they are older ex stock. Seemingly it is to do with emissions. The last one came up for sale here was in 2017 but again was ex stock. There are no 150 manuals ex stock left here.

Evening lads, I was going to post a thread but thought I'd ask here first..

I have a 2018 caddy, its only 75bhp from a 2.0 and it's infuriating to drive like this.

It has a 5 speed manual and just under 30k miles on it so it's fairly fresh.

What can I get power wise on this motor? By ONLY remapping. Is the standard clutch and gearbox up to the power hike and finally, if I have more power I'd like to give the brakes a bit of a boost... What bolt on combinations are available from the rest of the VAG range that would improve the brakes?

Hi all, new to the forum so hope its OK jumping on this thread as its a pretty similar question.

I'm looking at buying a caddy. I'm deciding between a highline 100, highline 150 and have even looked at a black edition. but I am struggling to find all of the differences between the 100 and 150 (as far as I can see the black edition doesn't come in the 150)
I am wondering if anyone can tell me the full list of differences between a 100 and 150 caddy (I have been told its pretty much just the mapping but it must have a different gearbox as the 150s all seem to be 6 speed when the 100s are 5 speed) and weather the higher value that the 150s command on the second hand market is worth it or would it just be better to purchase a 100 and get it mapped to 190ish.

Thanks in advance,
Matt.

Anyone got any experience of what telling your insurance company you've had a remap actually does to your premiums? Cheers.
